About Us

Welcome
To Osinoni Nature Conservation

Our Story

Osinoni Nature Conservation came into existence as a result of the motivation, a pressing need-basis and collective initiative of its founders, to enhance Earthcare through biodiversity conservation/ restoration. Hailing from the Arid-Semi Arid Lands, North of Mount Kenya, the founders knew the  hardships faced as a result of environmental degradation. The drying of rivers and dying of springs and all critical wetlands has over time exposed the local communities, wildlife to a number of catastrophic challenges. The founding team noticed that there was a gap in biodiversity restoration in wetlands and the rangelands aspect. Due to this among other environmental challenges, they came together with locals to start protecting rivers  in Isiolo, Meru and Laikipia, Samburu Counties of Kenya with the aim of reaching other locations at a broader level.

Biodiversity Tourism

This kind of tourism can be defined as a combination of adventures and conservation. Biodiversity is vital for tourism and a healthy environment is a critical factor for the competitiveness of the tourism sector. Biodiversity tourism is unique because it is packaged in a more  direct environment-action oriented way; that is meant to enhance conservation as a process or processes that cumulate into a nature lifestyle as opposed to events.

Osinoni seeks to promote this kind of tourism by aligning it with its day to day line of activities. This includes the community  social aspect of culture and heritage. Community empowerment should be at the center of the conservation discourse. This tourism is guided by the guiding principal  of “working  to improve  nature  as you have fun.
